"Anthology of Sombre Reflections" ist eine umfangreiche und vollständige Zusammenstellung der frühen, hochgelobten Werke dieser Doom-Götter: von der prägenden, rohen Todesmetall-Ästhetik des verehrten Demos "Towards the Sinister", den Tracks der 7"-Single "God is Alone" und dem Debütalbum "As the Flower Withers" bis hin zu den düster-eleganten, verführerischen Klängen des 1996er-Highlights "Like Gods of the Sun".
Neben den Genre-Klassikern "Turn Loose the Swans" und "The Angel and the Dark River" – die für die beliebte Phase von My Dying Bride in den frühen bis mittleren 90er Jahren stehen – enthält diese luxuriöse 8-Vinyl-Box auch die drei Kult-EPs der Band. Jede Platte ist auf schwerem 180-Gramm-Vinyl gepresst. Die vier Studioalben wurden zudem in den Air Studios einem neuen "Half-Speed"-Mastering unterzogen.
Ergänzt wird das Audiomaterial durch ein 48-seitiges Buch mit Fotos und Artwork. Es enthält neue, 2025 geführte Interviews mit Andrew Craighan und Aaron Stainthorpe, in denen sie über die Einflüsse und Entstehungsprozesse dieser geschätzten 90er-Jahre-Werke sprechen und auf ihr Schaffen in dieser Zeit zurückblicken.
"Anthology of Sombre Reflections" umfasst zudem zwei große Poster mit dem Artwork des Albums "Turn Loose the Swans" sowie das originale Poster, das bereits "As the Flower Withers" beilag. Eine Auswahl an Fotodrucken der Band aus dieser Ära ist ebenfalls enthalten.
