Don’t let the age fool you. At just 17, Norwegian alternative artist STORM is fast becoming one of the most compelling new forces in heavy music. With the release of his new single “Lullaby,” he now enters a crucial new chapter, competing in the Norwegian final to become Norway’s representative at the Eurovision Song Contest. Notably, STORM stands as the only heavy act in this year’s final, bringing a bold and uncompromising sound into one of Europe’s most mainstream music arenas.
Dagbladet, one of Norway’s largest national newspapers, awards a top score of 6/6 and writes: “A winning candidate – also in Vienna!” NRK, Norway’s national public broadcaster, gives two separate 5/6 ratings, with its reviewers saying: “This is something I’m truly looking forward to seeing in the final!”
“Lullaby” is a striking contrast to its title. Built on explosive energy, powerful riffs and strong melodic instincts, the track blends intensity with accessibility. It captures the feeling of thoughts that refuse to quiet down, wrapping emotional weight inside a high-impact alternative framework that feels both modern and fearless.
“The song is a slightly different, maybe a bit heavier than a traditional lullaby,” STORM says. “It’s about something getting stuck in your head and refusing to let go.”
Despite his young age, STORM has already made a significant mark both in Norway and internationally. He has performed at major European festivals such as Download Festival in the UK and Tons of Rock in Norway, where he became the youngest artist ever to appear on stage. His music has also received strong international radio support, including airplay on BBC Radio 1 Rock Show, Kerrang! Radio and NRK P3.
In 2025, STORM was nominated for The Norwegian Publishing awards in the category Breakthrough of the Year, followed later that year by the release of his debut album Join the Storm. Alongside traditional platforms, he has built a rapidly growing global audience through social media, particularly on TikTok, where his videos have reached millions of views.
The journey to the Norwegian Eurovision final also known as Melodi Grand Prix has been one of anticipation and secrecy.
“The announcement has been completely insane. I actually got the call back in March 2025 and had to keep it secret until now,” he explains. “It’s been torture in the best possible way. Finally letting it out feels unreal. I’ve been walking around with this bomb in my pocket for almost a year.”
For STORM, the experience of competing in Norway’s biggest music television event is as thrilling as the performance itself.
“I’m excited for everything. The whole circus. Backstage, the crowd, the chaos, the adrenaline, that moment right before you walk on stage. All of it.”
Raised in Trondheim, STORM has been involved in music from an early age, starting his first band at just eight years old. Standing on the Melodi Grand Prix stage now feels almost unreal.
“I’m a 17-year-old alternative artist from Trondheim. I’ve been making music for as long as I can remember. Thinking about standing on the MGP stage now is completely wild.”
As the sole heavy act in the Norwegian final, STORM brings a distinct edge to the competition.
“People can expect energy. Chaos. Emotions,” he says. “You can expect a STORM.”
With “Lullaby,” STORM is not only releasing a new single, but challenging expectations of what Eurovision selection entrys can sound like. At just 17, he is ready to prove that his music gave a place on Europe’s biggest stage, even before the final decision is made.
