Southern California power trio Night Demon have spent more than a decade honing their trademark heavy metal sound and have deservedly become the flag-bearers of the New Wave of Traditional Heavy Metal movement.
First released in 2015, Curse of the Damned was Night Demon’s first full-length album and quickly became canon for any true heavy metal die-hard.
Now with three studio albums and a live album under their belts, Night Demon is thrilled to commemorate Curse of the Damned in epic fashion. This special 10th anniversary box set includes many never-before-seen items including multiple vinyl, CDs, a cassette, a DVD, four posters, a comic book and much more.
The band made the daring decision to include three distinct vinyl variants of the album; each with their own story to tell. Indeed, these three iterations almost convey the past, present and future of Curse of the Damned as a work.
The Run For Your Life Sessions are a fully fledged recording of the album which, until now, never saw the light of day. Upon completion, the band realized that the over-production of this effort was not representative of their raw, unbridled sound and into the vaults it went.
They re-recorded the album entirely, creating the Original Master that the band first released to the world ten years ago. Now a decade later, the 10th Anniversary Remix has given the band a unique opportunity to reimagine Curse as they had always dreamt it could be.
Frontman and bassist Jarvis Leatherby says: “When compiling this box set, we wanted to make sure it was a definitive representation of our debut full length album and touring cycle with nothing left on the table. In early 2015, Night Demon released their debut full-length album. Entitled “Curse of the Damned”, it was a marked progression from the EP in terms of writing, performances and production. Yet it remained steeped in the arcana of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. The sinister cover artwork introduced a key figure in Night Demon’s pantheon of rogues, Eugene. A black-clad figure shrouded in darkness save for his burning eyes and menacing axe, Eugene is the true demon of the night. The lethal power of axe-crazy Eugene is further enshrined in the “Blood Sacrifice” horror-themed comic that accompanied the release of “Curse of the Damned”. Lest there be any residual doubt, you’d best heed the band’s warning about Eugene: “Look behind you / He’s coming to get you / With his axe in his hands …”
