Acrolysis - neues Album "Intoxicator" veröffentlicht

Australian heavy metal band Acrolysis released their sophomore album, ‘Intoxicator’ today.

An almost hour-long experience, pushing the capabilities of their musical strengths and experimenting with ideas and sounds to integrate into their developing sound.

Musically, the album attempts to further push their sound and songwriting. They have been experimenting with sounds not used by the band before whilst extrapolating on musical ideas and pushing them beyond what they have composed previously.

An example of this is in the title track, ‘Intoxicator’. Taking the riff centric and groove driven songwriting that has been established by the band but building it around a new harmonic element. In this case, the song incorporates a piano as an integral part of the audio picture of the song, adding a new dimension and texture.

Likewise, the closing instrumental, 'Phase 153' takes the songwriting history and experience of their previously composed instrumentals and pushes those concepts further. Incorporating harmonic instruments including an organ, arpeggiator and an orchestra. It also features six of their contemporaries on their song, showcasing their shredding prowess and technical guitar acumen.

Thematically, the record is more introspective in its lyrical narrative. While their 2023 debut album 'Revolution' was politically charged, socially aware and direct in its message, ‘Intoxicator’ whilst still being socially aware, has a more personal and reflective perspective. For example, the theme of the song, 'The Inevitable' delves into the ideas of self reflection and regret. It discusses and explores the inevitability of the consequences of decisions that people make and in hindsight, how these consequences were almost a guarantee. Similarly, 'Dead Man's Hand' uses the legend and story of West folk hero, “Wild Bill” Hickok being shot and killed whilst playing poker and drapes it in a metaphor for one’s affinity to gamble and take risks.

Still retaining their versatility and diversity from song to song, ‘Intoxicator’ is out today June 1st, 2025 and is to be available digitally through Spotify, Apple Music and other streaming services.
