Zwielicht, das neueste Album von Mental Cruelty, wird am 23. Juni über Century Media Records veröffentlicht.

Mental Cruelty kommentieren die neue Single: "This song is inspired by the Greek Prometheus saga or comparatively the story of the Lost Sinner from Dark Souls. It tells the story of a man that is shackled to a mountain summit. He stands for the feeling of being trapped and isolated and feeling guilty about it. The evil chord progressions combined with huge orchestral ornaments and fast-paced blast beats will give you a feeling of listening to almost old-schoolish Black Metal with a modern twist.”
Zum Albun sagen sie folgendes: “Let us embrace a new era of darkness by bringing the “black” into blackened heavy music. Join us on the way down to infernal gates of hell to be rebirthed back to life. The album will contain the most mind-bending variety of different heavy musical influences and sounds. Epic symphonic orchestras accompanied by slam breakdowns; this will have it all. Inspired from metaphors written by nature, death, and inner demons.

Seit vier Veröffentlichungen, beginnend mit der Pereat Mundus EP von 2016, haben Mental Cruelty eine brutale Mischung aus Black Metal, Death Metal, Deathcore und einem ganz eigenen Wahnsinn geschaffen. Mit dem bahnbrechenden Album A Hill To Die Upon (Unique Leader) aus dem Jahr 2021 hat das deutsche Quintett nicht nur für sich selbst, sondern auch für das gesamte Genre einen neuen Standard gesetzt.
Aufgestiegen aus der Asche des persönlichen und beruflichen Chaos, verbrachten Mental Cruelty die erste Hälfte des Jahres 2021 mit der Suche nach einer Stimme, die sie weiterhin als unschlagbare Instanz in der deutschen Metal-Szene etablieren sollte. Nach der Verpflichtung von Lukas ist die Band (ergänzt durch die Gitarristen Nahuel Lozano und Marvin Kessler, Bassist Viktor Dick und Schlagzeuger Danny Straßer) mit neuer Power wieder aufgetaucht und ist bereit, ihren Weg zur internationalen Größe fortzusetzen.
Mit dem neuen Sänger Lukas Nicolai läuten Mental Cruelty eine neue Epoche der Finsternis und Entschlossenheit ein, die das Herzstück ihres kommenden Albums Zwielicht bildet. Erneut arbeiteten sie mit Produzent und Mixer Josh Schroeder (Lorna Shore, Ov Sulfur, Signs of the Swarm The Browning) zusammen und haben ihren Sound zu neuer, düsterer Intensität getrieben, geschmiedet aus emotionalem Riffing, schweren "Back to the Roots"-Breakdowns und epischen, orchestralen Arrangements, die den bereits elitären Standard übertreffen, der zum Synonym für die Band geworden ist.
Zwielicht naht. Mental Cruelty's finstere Herrschaft hat gerade erst begonnen.
